Arterial ulcers, also known as ischemic ulcers, are caused by poor blood flow to the lower extremities
Arterial wounds are intensely painful and have a punched-out appearance that are usually round in shape. The base of the wound is brown, yellow, grey or black in color and typically doesn’t bleed. The skin may be thin and shinny with an absence of hair. The wounds are usually deep and can often extend into the underlying tendons. The limb may feel cold to the touch with little to no pulse.
